Asset tags that survive oil mist and washdown

Manufacturing · Materials · March 2026

Asset tags in industrial plants fail when paper facestocks and low-durability ribbons are used in high-contact zones. Exposure to oils, moisture, and cleaning chemicals quickly reduces contrast and readability.

Recommended base construction

  • Use matte PET or durable synthetic facestock.
  • Choose adhesive based on surface energy and temperature range.
  • Pair with full-resin ribbon for better chemical and abrasion resistance.
  • Confirm scanner performance on the same handheld models used on-site.

Validation before full deployment

Test tags through a complete cleaning and handling cycle before scaling. Include rub tests, solvent exposure checks, and scan-grade sampling from multiple device angles.
